Please guess the grade of the 1983-D Jefferson Nickel shown below. I have attached a poll for you to cast your vote and you may select up to 3 different things: the numerical grade, FS or NOT FS, and + grade or star designation. Please don't forget to vote in the poll, and as always, comments welcome. I can feel the fatigue of this long process, and I am sure we are all relieved that we have reached the final coin, but you guys know me too well. Has anyone figured out the twist yet? Let me know what you think is coming, and coming soon!!!
MS 65 FS ...not quite up to a 66 but the five steps are there (unless you are that NGC grader) ....in terms of twist, I'm guessing you ended up sending all the non-FS (which will likely be 9 of the 10) to PCGS. There most (if not all) did get the FS.
This one is frosty, and why I will keep my grade to 65. I didn't vote FS in the original thread. That ding under the third pillar looked deeper than it shows in the full size photos. 65 full steps, if it hasn't been given away already. I am sure that PCGS didn't give the same numerical grades.
66 FS. I was going to say what @ddddd said. All the failed FS went to PCGS further validating you leaving NGC all together.
You guys figured it out. All of the coins in this giant thread, including the 41-D that NGC graded 5FS were cracked out and sent to PCGS. I will update the main thread with slab photos of each coin from both grading companies and compare the associated price guides for each, to see exactly how much money NGC cost me on these coins.
