From the picture you provided, AU-50, maybe 55 but why do you have you fingers on it? Your fingers have oil and that leaves a print on the coin, even when holding it by the edge.
I grade it a nice-looking cent. That's all I can tell from those pictures. See if you can gently pry away that lump of verdigris under the O in ONE before it gets seriously imbedded in the coin. Drop some acetone on it and see if you can work it loose with a moistened toothpick, it's worth a try.
I'd almost bet, it's a variety too ..... http://varietyvista.com/01a LC Doubled Dies Vol 1/DDO 1944.htm http://varietyvista.com/01a LC Doubled Dies Vol 1/DDR 1944.htm
These days with all the people making easy money with no better skills than how to take good closeup pictures of coins, what's not a variety or error? Just once I'd like to see somebody find something that at that 100x-magnification, sub-atomic, quantum-mechanic level isn't a variety or error, I think I'd fall off my horse!
Thanks for the advice as someone on here told me to hold it by the rim so wont be doing that no more what should i do instead
I keep pairs of clean white cotton gloves for that purpose: cheap, easily laundered, good insurance against finger oils. Steve
And you'll find experienced collectors here who say you're more likely to damage a coin by dropping or abrading it while wearing cotton gloves, and that you should just use (well-washed) bare hands. They're also likely to point out that PCGS/NGC graders handle coins with their bare hands.
I have no problem with that advice, @jeffB, but my bathroom is on a lower floor and I don't trust my fingers to stay clean. When I do use gloves I have a pad or cloth-covered surface as I suffer from "dropsy." Steve
