I started the year off with a Siliqua and now I end it with one.

This one, though it could change. I think I can get 4 or 5 more coins before December 31. At least I'm trying to.

That is a super coin Pish. Look at the detail on the eagle on the middle standard.

Jealous! I don't think I've seen a Licinius with this reverse type from Ostia before. That eagle is just great, and really interesting that only the middle and left standards have a banner.

Like many, I have not yet received the coin, but I guess it's technically a 2016 purchase: hadrian_ses.jpg

    Did I do that?

Uhm, what I meant by year was not necessarily the current year and/or a physical year, and by coins I didn't necessarily mean ancient coins, and... OK, you got me. I'm full of hot air. Ancient coins are just so much fun and addicting, I can't help myself.

Good news, I bought 4 more awesome ancient silver coins, but I probably won't receive them until next year, so they count for 2017's tally technically.

Also, I don't want to disclose them yet as they are part of a set/presentation I may do in the future.

Carausius Brother, can you spare a sestertius?

I agree that the reverse mark is a Stannard scoop weigjt adjustment. It has the characteristic lines where the gouge stopped and started again.

I see no doubt that this is a Stannard scoop and I'd call it a nice one. It shows clearly but really does not destroy anything terribly important. I am probably the only one but I like coins for having more 'stutters' along the scoop. Three is pretty average. My best has eight stripes.

What I really want is one that was scooped twice, one on each side. They exist but are not common and probably so damaged more dealers won't handle them. I had hopes once that the coin below was one but it turned out to be a banker's mark hit on the reverse that caved in the scoop on the obverse making a very strange looking coin.

The year isn't over so I'm hoping this isn't the last coin to arrive before 2017, but this is the last so far. L. Cornellius Sulla 375/2

I've 2 inbound hoping they make it here before new years. Then I snagged one from JA today & another (or 2) that auction ends before the new year.
All this while supposed to be grounded. What we'll do to satisfy our need for coins.

If you have an itch to satisfy, do what I did today, buy the same coin type with the same ruler 4 or 5 times over. Nothing says dedication than multiples of the same.

    Thank goodness for tracking numbers.
My goose would've been cooked a long time ago without it.
No it's not 100% but I can intercept 95% which keeps the heat off my hiney.
