1788 CENT WITH A ( R ) on the back on the left side not on the right. Feedback into the 1788 R cent colonial. Ohio.
Nope...those dont have a R on the back Left . My 1788 is copper brown with a slight messup..on the arrows on right when made.
However...i did go to a coin sight for colonial coins ..and one year they dont seem to know what letter was put on the backside of the 1788 cent ?? If anyone finds out anything please let me know. Ohio.
It really doesn't matter where the "R" is, left or right, it just indicates that it is a replica with no real value.
Ok...do you have the training to know that about the 1788. Im just wanting to know where you got the information. I went to colonial coins of 1788 and there a section where they know theres a 1788 coin out there and they dont seem to know what mint mark is on it. ?
Well I have collected colonial coins for over 45 years. I don't know where you got your information, but none of the state coppers have mint marks.
I just find that weird that the individuals that produced the coins for a certain year...dont seem to know what mint mark would be on a certain coin f, d, c, how about R. Its defiantly on my and its a copper cent 1788 Ryder
There are no mint marks on state coppers. The R on yours indicates that it is a replica, not a real coin. Where are you getting your information from?
I typed in on google . 1788 colonial and it took me to a colonial coins of 1788. And it talkd about the Ryder coins.
No, Ryder was not a special set of coins, Ryder was the man who came up with the attribution system for Massachusetts coppers. R stands for replica, no genuine Massachusetts coins have the R.
The states did not make replicas, they were made in recent years by private companies to be sold cheaply as souvenirs or novelty items.
