1944 mercury dime error or pmd?

    Wanted to check if this was a lamination error or just PMD. Also greatly appreciate it if you could grade it. Thank you.

    No, it is not a "42 over 1" and it is damaged so not worth grading.

    Chris are you referring to the lines that look like scratch marks as damage?

    Without all the scratches, I would call it VF-XF.

    I wanted to point out that those are not scratches. The photo makes it look like scratches but they aren't. It really looks like seran wrap that wasn't put over the coin correctly. I checked with a 50x microscope. The lines do not go inward but instead they are going outward.

    You have the coin in hand. Could they be going both directions or just outwards?
