Sounds like you have a project for 2025! :D
But in all seriousness, completing the non-gold 7070 is a big accomplishment!

I went low (VF 35) because of two things: 1) it did not seem like there was any luster (which knocked it down below AU for me) and 2) the wear on the cheek and hair seemed a bit more than I would expect on a higher grade even if other parts of the coin might exhibit better remaining details. My internal debate was between VF and XF; I ended up being conservative and going with the highest possible VF grade.

As far as the comment "almost bought an AU/details/cleaned," that made me think the coin was XF or lower and a straight grade. I could see your thinking but to me it read like he went with something lower graded for around the same money as an AU details coin.

Yeah, I get ya. I think that @mrweaseluv might have played those words on purpose.
By the way @No_Ragrets I bought one years ago in a soap box It was I think an XF40. I would have to look, I got rid of it. This one is in much better condition than mine.

Will do the reveal around 10ish (since 24hrs would put us too close to the midnight countdown) So get your guesses in now!

let's just say that "list" prices for these by ngc and pcgs are way off.. detail pieces generaly sell for about the listed "list" prices for clean grade coins. "clean" grades are selling for near double at LCS, online shops and even the few little shows i can hit localy. In the end a clean grade and about 30% over list (you don't know how much it hurts my cheap heart to pay over list lol) but still lower then anything else I've seen in a clean grade won over the cheaper, flashier AU/cleaned coin.. So my wallet still hurts but I won't regret it later :D
Lastly.. My opinion.. I thought 30-35 obverse, 50-53 reverse so an end grade of XF40 seems fitting :D

Based on the reverse, I thought xf45, but it is a beautiful dollar.

I was mistaken on what I thought was luster.

I guessed the grade. I think because I've spent years looking at them and dreaming of owning one.

Given the way many EF-40 graded coins look these days, that is very conservatively graded.
