    Anyone have any thoughts about this coin for sale on eBay?

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/322365551625?ul_noapp=true

    I'm curious how a seller like this could have over 17,000 feedback comments and a 100% positive rating.

    BTW, I sent an offer of $35 for this coin, which I think is a reasonable price given its condition. I'll let everyone know if I hear back from the seller.

    TIF Always learning.

    He's been discussed many times here on CT. Feelings run from loathing to neutral to "meh, it works for him".

    I've bought a couple from him, when he accepted reasonable offers. I have had a few reasonable offers declined. Sometimes he has rarities I'm hunting for, although rarely in good condition. For some coins, I can't be picky about condition.

    He's well known, or shall I say notorious, for his pricing shtick. I condemn it, because it's an obvious scheme to sucker some newbie into paying way more than he/she should. Dealers should be honest above all else. But he does accept most reasonable offers - $35 is about right for that coin.

    Sounds like his eBay username is kind of backwards...

    "highrating_lowprice" -> "highPRICE_lowmorals"

    I've purchased a few coins from him after submitting a far, far lower offer than he listed...and I even contacted him about his 'marketing' strategy which I find as unacceptable as everyone else does.

    How he can list a coin valued at no more than $35-$ 50.00 for over $900 seems excessive even for him. I guess he thinks the 'unpublished' aspect greatly enhances the coins value. Needless to say I totally agree with TIF and JA.

    I didn't look very closely at the listing because I was so put off by the asking price. A few things I just noticed:
    1) He has it listed as silver;
    2) He says "possibly" unpublished;
    3) The reverse appears to be a clashed die.

    I'll predict he will not accept that offer. It depends on what you and he see as reasonable. Neither of you mentioned what I consider the more interesting part of that coin. The question is whether he has included any belief in the coin being special.
    I type too slow. I have never seen a clash from this issue. As such, I would pay $35 and I am a certified cheapskate. Die clashes are not worth any premium for the periods where they are common and few people study them so there is no reasonable up-charge.

    Haven't surfed ebay in quite some time.
    I notived he has an Aurelius Ant Sol nude rev. listed as silvered. Wants like $291 for it. Made him an offer, not quite as generous as gsimonel but fair enough.

    I skimmed the first 2 pages of his listing.
    I'd say 99% of his stuff is WAY OVER PRICED, rediculously. What is in the norm range is some modern clad & very worn ancients.

    Why support this guy when there are 100s of reasonable dealers who keep this pursuit alive? Just ignore the guy.

    Oh Ok, I've seen a few threads about this guy before. The Pawn star reply struck a bell.
    I agree not to support dueche bags like that.

    I saw the Mark Anthony Cleopatra, pretty bad.
    I would be completly shocked if he takes my little $20 offer on the Aurelius.

    I wouldn't accept a coin from this guy even if he offered it to me for free. He is a crook and a lowlife who makes his living out of getting newbies to grossly overpay for coins.

    He puts videos on YouTube reading off the history of some coins, then tells people he is this world renowned expert on ancient coins, that no expert has the amount of experience he has, and by the way, check out his coins for sale at low low prices. It's a real scam!

    He might sell genuine coins, but I've seen him make factual mistakes as he reads off some cue card offscreen to make people think he knows so much about these coins. I've only been collecting for 14 months and I could tell from some of his YouTube videos this "world renowned expert" is just full of hot air. He probably goes to coin shows and buys the large parcel lots from dealers at low prices, and resells these coins individually at outrageous prices.

    I just heard back from the seller. He just declined my offer of $35 on his $30 coin that he was listing for $950.

    Ebay changed the feedback system a number of years ago so neutral and negative feedback drops off the tally after 12 months. Essentially, a lower-quality seller who would have had a 94% rating 10 years ago can easily get back up to 100% by just waiting for the negative feedback to be automatically expunged from the count. Ebay's feedback system is awful these days. They took a working system and debased it to the point I often don't even bother to leave feedback as much as I used to.

    I think you are lucky he declined the $35 offer. Unless you want clashed dies (I think only Doug does) I think you can get a better example for less, and as so many have said, his business model is deplorable and should not be supported.
