First time getting a strap of bills. Wife thought it would be neat to give some of the kids gifts of $2 bills, and I thought I could take advantage of the opportunity to look through the bills and pull anything interesting. Besides silver certificates, star notes, and interesting serial numbers, anything else I should look for? At first glance, the strap appears to be made of mostly crisp bills. Not sure how old, etc... Thanks in advance!
I don't think the 2's had any modern silver certificates. Any red note would be a good find. Maybe a 1976 in crisp condition.
Being new to bills that was my error - I meant a red seal.... Didn't realize they didn't have silver certificates....
At my CU you can ask for a new bundle with consecutive numbers or an old bundle. I bought a bundle of new $2 bills the other week. Next time I'll get used ones and see what I get. I think the small $2s only had a couple printings as before that they were large bills. The 1928, 53 & 63s were Red seals 1976, 95, etc were green seals
Looks like not much of interest... All series 2013, about 80 of 'em are in the same sequence, the remaining 20 are another sequence. Serials start K27582...
They did make $2 silver certs. ( I remember seeing one in the currency forum recently), this one is from 1899. But I don't think they can be found in circulation. The red ones are still out there, but you would have better luck being a cashier in a convenience store, rather than getting them at the bank. But you never know.
