over a dozen lost auctions, 3 unaccpeted offers... almost bought an AU/details/cleaned.. I was very very close... Then I got a counter offer tonight just before i pulled the trigger...
I spent a bit more but Hell it's my B-day gift to myself and the last coin of 2024 (most likely lol)
Anyhoo.. take a crack of guessing the grade on my newest pretty :D (and I ain't showing you the damn grade until the reveal this time lol)

Oh and my 7070/no gold is now complete (not done, just complete lol) have the 2 53s with rays (half and quarter) in ICG slabs, but that's easily corrected :D

I do still need both $20s, $10 liberty and $5 Indian to complete the gold page, but that's a whole different story/collection lol

The eagle feathers are pretty sharp. Put me down for XF40.

EF-45 if it has no luster.

AU-50 if it has some luster.

Many of 1859-O and 1860-O dollars came from a government hoard that was taken from the treasury vaults in the early 1960s. Many of them have been cleaned or messed with to make them appear to Mint State. Your piece is a very nice original coin.

45 was my first thought. The reverse is really nice. My gut is telling me the obverse is better than the photos show.

Why so low everyone? looks like it has plenty of detail left.
Then we have this from Mr.W "almost bought an AU/details/cleaned."
    I am at AU50

I've only ever seen two of these in person before, with one of them being the only one I've purchased. I'm very inexperienced on grading these so I was just using photograde and then browsing the previous auction listings on PCGS.

    I'll go with AU-50.

I was only being onery! I did a little research before I bought mine.
This one just looks like it has a bit of meat on the bone.

I'm at EF-45 with the Obv, but that Rev is really nice!

Without even looking at Photograde, at first glance my thought was EF (in my best Michael Keaton voice; 40 ... 45 .... whatever it takes).

    Nice looking coin!

    Well, I'd be at AU-50 to 53 but I don't see any luster. So, I'll say AU-50.

XF-45. Well done on completing your 7070 album. It looks like you've had a lot of fun with the surrender of the VA after your long fight with them.

I've seen XF 40 not as nice. So that's my guess.
