Please guess the grade of the 1943-S Jefferson Nickel shown below. I have attached a poll for you to cast your vote and you may select up to 3 different things: the numerical grade, FS or NOT FS, and + grade or star designation.

    65FS.

I guessed 2.5 high on the last one so being a bit more conservative here.

So here is the thing. If you were 2.5 grades high, who was wrong, you or NGC? I have never seen you be 2.5 grades off a Jefferson Nickel.

I'm going MS65+ here. I think it's close to FS and the last 2 I thought were lock FS coins and they didn't get it. So, I'm saying "no FS" here (meaning it probably will be a FS, haha).

66 5FS ...I like this one about a point less than the previous one, which would make it a 64 :p....but I still think the previous one was a 67 (66 worst case), so I'm sticking 66 on this one

REVEAL: 1943-S Jefferson Nickel NGC MS66+

Nobody got this one, probably because the insanely low grade for the last coin made you guys more conservative on your grade with this one.

NGC also keeps forgetting the 5FS...

I shouldn’t have let the last one affect my judgement. I also see a solid step across so I think they blew this with the steps.

I don’t mind it at 66 but don’t think it warrants a plus.

I almost went 66+ but felt the reverse wouldn’t allow it. But a beauty it is!

I am not sure "forgetting" is the right word.

Oh, they blew it alright, I had this one at MS66 5FS, there is nothing superlative about this coin to warrant a +.

You were the closest at MS66 anyway, so I will give it to you.

Tell us what we aren't seeing in the photos

It isn't the photos, this is a run of the mill MS66FS coin. But the previous grade of MS65 on another run of the mill MS66FS coin has everyone gun shy as they are reacting to the horribly conservative grades given by this grader.
