Here are the coins I purchased in 2024 (that are also imaged).

There are 28 coins spread across 3 posts below, in no particular order. Some of these coins are for my "Box-of-125" Type set, loosely based on a DANSCO 7070 but including major types that set skips over, like the seated "No drapery" coins. I have been working on on my Type Set for about a decade now.

Some of the below are just coins I liked for whatever reason, and not purchased for my primary hobby goal/Set. Sometimes I buy a coin to consider replacing an existing coin in my set, but ultimately don't add it. For example, I purchased three Morgan dollars this year, but only have a spot for one.

The coins not destined for my Type set are either sold or if I still like them, are put into my "Random-Fun-Box-Of-25" set, which is mostly Kennedy Half dollars. Other than Raw Silver Washingtons, those are the only coin sets/collections I have. (Having too many collecting goals or half-completed sets is not something I care for.)

By the way, I went a bit nuts buying coins this year, far more than at any point since 2014.

Those clad Washingtons are very nice, especially that 1965. I have been working on a clad Washington NGC registry set but only as a side project where the coins find me, which is to say my set is 6 coins strong. This is my top coin so far.

Maybe I will make a New Years Resolution to spend more time on this set, as I also don't like have too many half completed sets.

A nice group of fun additions! I like the 1966 quarter, the token, and 1968 Kennedy most.

Now this is how you do it. You seen to buy what you like, which is possibly the #1 key to success in numismatics.

Not to mention the absolute beauty of those coins!

Also, don't worry about going "too crazy" on buying coins! LOL, there are hundreds of billions of them out there to snag, as long as you are in the right place at the right time. I know you are a husband and a father, but you are also a coin collector, and you deserve to have all 3 in your life. ;)

I like the 1840-O dime and No Stars half dime. I'm also impressed by your clads with the pastel toning, particularly the 1966 quarter at the top. It's hard for me to get very excited about clad anything, but if I was going to collect any clad coins, I would want them to look like that '66 quarter of yours.

    If I had to pick favorites . . .
    • The CWT for its color (although it is a Trueview)
    • The 1965 Washington Quarter for the fantastic die erosion on both sides
    Nice coins all, @geekpryde.

thank you all who have replied and shared their personal favorites from my 2024 purchases.

I am a little surprised no one specifically called out the 1976 Kennedy clad, as it has that subtle iridescent toning that I love and this coin really is nice. Might be too subtle for some people, and well, it is only a Kennedy. (I am a sucker for Kennedy halves)

I will give @lordmarcovan credit, as I believe he did allude to this one, but just liked the clad 25c more.

No, dont you dare! In my defense, I did take 10 YEARS off from buying coins.

Besides, I only collect "affordable" coins. Just don't tell her about the Quantity of my affordable coins.

Indeed, that one did stand out upon my second viewing, as did the CWT, which also stood out on my first viewing, but which I neglected to mention.

There are certain coins I don't get all that excited about because of how commonly they come with fantastic eye appeal . . . like the 1857 Quarters, 1858 Halves, 1914 Dimes, 1909 VDB Cents, Warnicks.

I was especially attracted to the 76-D Half as well, @geekpryde, but didn't call it out because I consider it to be one of those coins.

I think that is a nice Kennedy but it was more subtle than the clad 1966 Quarter to my eye.
I have seen a few rainbow Bicentennials (although they were Quarters) and now it is a little harder to appreciate the subtle toners for this date. :p
