Great looking CC up there! Here's mine I always wanted one and luckily I was able to snatch one up when I still had the funds!
Is it certified? If so, what grade? If not, what grade do you think it is? Or is the grade the purpose of the thread? I'll reserver further judgement until these questions are answered. Because I have opinions on the grade and value.
All of my CC coins have been Seated Liberties, and I haven't had one in a while. I have never owned a CC Morgan dollar.
It’s a raw coin. At best I would give it a VG but not higher. I needed to fill a hole in my Whitman’s folder. It matches the the grades of the other coins. Some are better, a few are more worn but this coin is a four digit coin in good or better.
My Morgan CC set runs across the range of grades. I prefer coins that have worked for a living and this is a nice set.
You sho You shouldn't wish for birthdays. You do realize that the more you have the older you will get?
If the look matches the rest of the coins in your set, I'm happy for you. Based on the level of wear, I'd call it somewhere between AG-03 and G-04. It needs to have complete rims to have a higher grade than that. The rim is worn into the lettering on the obverse but not on the reverse, which is why it could go either way. You are right that it is a legitimately rare coin and very desirable even in low grades.
