    It has the brilliance to be a Slider what am I?

    Looks like "toning" to me. ET.
    I don't think they made a "Burnished" Quarter??

    Sal they are called improperly annealed. This is when the planchets spent too much time in the annealing oven.

    I guess that I was wrong. I assumed it happened to nickels mostly. Improper Annealing

    It's not just nickels, it happens on all copper nickel compositions.

    I have specimens of improperly annealed coins of every denomination except cents and I always wondered why it doesn't happen to cents. I should have realized that it was the metal composition. Duh!
