That and why so many don't check the reject bin after they run their coins. The machine tells you to check it multiple times. Oh well, more coins for me.

Should have walked up real quick and said "Excuse me, I just used this but forgot to get my rejected coins. Mind if I grab them real quick before you put yours in?"

As I entered my local supermarket today, I noticed a man at the Coinstar... he seemed very protective... I grabbed a dollar out of my wallet as I saw there were coins in the reject tray... he finished with about $110 cashed in... he took his receipt and walked away without even checking the reject tray... I'm now $3.27 richer. No silver or old coins, but still it was cool to pull enough money to effectively get a free "junk" silver quarter when I visited the coin shop today.

Whats with everyone finding all these wheats in CS machines? Do they kick em out for some reason? I've never found one in a tray...
By the way, nice find John! I've yet to find 48S.. Or any S Rosie for that matter.
    Only S dime I've found was a 1940S merc in a roll.

@Mad Stax, I think it has to do with how many other people in your area are checking them... I've been looking for a few years and have only ever found silver 2x...

It is also timing. I think you have to get there right after the "orphans" are left unattended... before someone else on your turf scarfs them up ;-)

    Thanks!

And believe it or not, that same machine had $3.59 in US change today along with some foreign stuff. A record 3 silver dimes (53-D, 63-D, 64-D), and a 48-S nickel! cs 53d 63d 64d 121716.jpg

It's the holiday season. Every Body is dumping their change buckets this month. I enjoy finding the silver, but I started this hunting in April and so far the tally without counting silver keepers, I am over 30.00. Total will be matched and donated to St Jude's.
Fun hobby, that keeps me somewhat interested in this Numismatic genre.

I find some silver on occasion, 5 dimes and 2 quarters on the year. No wheats though, I guess that means I'm due :)

The wheats are definitely out there... I've found a couple of steels, a few 1941s, and a 1940...
