1984 cent... Was this caused by a very worn die?

    Thank you guy's for the information on this. I did go to error.ref before I posted this but couldn't find anything that looked similar. Again, thank's, now I know...

    Not a lamination at all. It’s a ridge ring and that’s caused by a worn die. If it’s on both sides then both of the dies are worn.

    Both faces show cracked copper plating overlying a low ridge ring.

    Aha. So "ridge ring" is the term for that. I've seen 'em, but was not up to speed on the terminology.

    A ridge ring looks like a rim on the face of a coin, usually into the letters or design of the coin. All because of a tired, worn out, over used die.
