    modern commems

the mint make a lot of money during first few years of selling modern commems. after that, the mint mostly losing money. only surcharges for organization that those people really gained.

    modern commem prices up too

modern commems coins were also up recently due to silver booming. by calculation: one commem dollar equal to 0.76 oz of silver.
silver at $20.32 as of this writing. the bullion value will be 0.76 x $20.32 equal $15.44 each. so the bid is $15.44 and the ask is $16.99 (10% profit margin). and the maximum retail price will be $22.64 each (33% profit margin)

1984 l.a. olympics. 1986 statue of liberty, 1987 constitutional, 1988 seoul olympics, 1989 congress should traded between $17.00 to $22.50 each. depending which dealers you deal with and what trade show you attending.

Er well in 1918 they did a half dollar featuring Lincoln, but that was to celebrate the anniversary of Illinois's statehood, not Lincoln's birth.

Not that there's anything saying an event or person can't be commemorated more than once. There were commemoratives in 1904 celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Lewis and Clark Expedition... and again in 2004, celebrating the 200th anniversary of the same thing. Also Columbus discovery of America was arguably celebrated twice, in 1892 & 1893 (technically celebrating the Columbian Expo, but indriectly celebrated Columbus's discovery) and again in 1992.

Somebody should reread their history book. The Pony Express began in 1860 so that would be the 150th anniversary.

    modern commems

the mint should limit modern commemorative silver dollar to just one issue a year. and include half dollar and five dollars each time. how many silver dollars do we have now?. what about half dollars?.
