I cannot believe the patina of this coin that my partner has, wouldn't anyone pay for the privilege? A indifferent lustre and little contrast 1884-S MS 63 PL S$1 'Cartwheeling' specimens. Just amaze me

That's what they look like when you polish them hard enough. :)

Was this coin slabbed? All I can see is what Dave sees, an attempt to polish away some scratches from cleaning. P.S. "Slabbed" was a rhetorical statement.

Yup. AU or UNC details. What a shame :(

Isn't this the coin that someone wanted $30k for and to meet in Denver or something like that to do a cash deal that was on the BST forum a few months ago

You really have to give them a good rub to get them like that. That one looks shinier than our Thanksgiving silverware.

C'mon guys! Let's not get someone upset because we used the wrong terminology. That coin is definitely burnished. Right @CamaroDMD !

What is that symbol in the upper right corner of 2nd photo. Is it a TPG symbol or a generic slab or off company slab?

Coin appears to be in a premier world slab. They arent sealed just a PCGS looking slab for raw coins.

Didnt someone post a morgan like this not too long ago. Really polished and the guy said it was worth thousands of dollars and then got mad when everyone said it was ruined from polishing?

As @Evan8 said this is just a slab made by Coin World that anyone can buy and put a coin in (they are actually quite useful for the coins that don't need to be slabbed but could use extra protection beyond a flip).

Here is a website that has the description and sells them:

I'm sure I saw it on the BST a while back if you want to go searching. Wanted $30k or so and had to fly in to Denver or somewhere to do a cash deal.

I wouldn't pay 35 dollars for that let alone 35 thousand, not with how bad the scratches are and how poorly it's polished.

It's still worth at least a couple hundred.

I guess the joke is on us responding as he has not been back since he first posted ( again ).

I don't really mind. It's another opportunity to put warnings against this sort of thing, and that sort of person, into recent public record. And he's been back; note he Liked a couple of later posts after we exposed his deception.

He's got guts, I'll give him that. :)

The thing that gets me, is that this time and the last time he posted a morgan, it is always his "partner's" coin. Sounds like a scam to me.
