    Hello all,

I was looking at my 1990 prestige set and noticed that the cent looked like the picture below. Would you call this a die chip or is it something else (or not an error at all)? If so, would you put any premium on the set?
    Thank you!

I would expect better quality control from a Prestige set. Or does this happen over time?

I believe it happens right away at the mint. And as we continue to see today, the mint can have errors or damaged products get out (I have seen reports of damage on 2016 gold Mercury dimes as well as finning errors...so it still happens today).

Do you think it devalues the set?

I think it adds a premium (at least a small one). The 1990 Prestige Set is fairly common, so an error (even minor) would be unusual and might interest someone.

As Stated.. A Plating Blister. Not a major error
It does not add a premium because it is not a sought out, desirable error :yuck:

Perhaps just me, but I think it detracts from the set. If I got this from the mint, I would return it.

Unfortunately the time-frame to return to the mint has expired ;)

Yup, so call it an error.

    Exactly :p

To be fair, it is an error. It's just not a highly sought after or expensive one. Better than pmd:)

I feel the value is about the same. Some may not care for it but others may think it's really cool and pay a tiny bit more.

Does the cent have an S mintmark? (some of the no mintmark coins came out in the prestige sets.)

It does have an S mintmark. So no rarity in this set.
