I found this mississippi state quarter at work and had to get it...its got a plastic coating over the coin..can anyone help with info and what it might be worth ? thanks guys !!!!
No idea but it it beautiful. Is that gold plated with a thin plastic over the whole quarter? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Looks to be colorized. My guess is someone painted it and then may have coated it in a thin layer of resin or epoxy to preserve it. Maybe you can get a buck for it from someone who collects colorized coins but to most collectors it's just worth a quarter. EDIT: previous post mentions possible gold plating. If that's the case then you could probably get whatever the gold value is. It's thin plating so probably not much either. It still makes for a nice keepsake though if you like it.
Im not sure what it is or coated with...looks like the quaeter has a rough coating on it like a fine sandpaper before it was coated in a platic like material..its not hand painted unless done by a very good artist lol...its very detailed without coloring outside the lines...it is a beautiful quarter..
It is hand painted. It's a novelty item. Not a Mint Error and no premium. It's been altered and it is worthless.. that's all it is.
I agree with paddyman's statement. BUT, some ebay sellers feel quite a bit different. Take a look: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Handcrafted...egon-Statehood-Quarter-Bolo-Tie-/220380718057 Seems these quarters make some "fine" jewelry.
