Sal, I was hoping it was large but question my own thoughts. I’m aware of the small two and how it should appear but wonder if it’s not gunk or corrosion on either side of the number 2. 1982D copper in copper weighing 3.1. Grams? The 1983 in copper is the prize but finding a 1982D in copper was a find if I’m not mistaken? Which I most likely am as normal! ;)

Large. The quick and easy way to tell is if the bottom of the 2 won't fit between the 2 and the rim, it's large.

No one is ever going to find another 1982-D small date bronze. It's just not worth bothering with.

I tell that to all the people on the Coin Facebook pages I follow. Every day about a dozen people think they have found one

I'm glad they're all on Facebook instead of here. Just wait until AI starts telling everybody that they hit the lottery because it can't tell copper plated zinc from bronze.

A copper 1982 Denver Mint Small Date.

Only 2 have ever been discovered. It's not on the list I provided if you look carefully. They are worth thousands.

That's easy to look up. NGC and PCGS will both tell you. You should learn to do your own research in this hobby.

Yes. It makes the hobby more enjoyable and teaches you how to collect and detect scarce coins. I expect someone will find #3.

It would be very interesting to see a third example found one day. But the chances are astronomical
