What a wonderful gesture @Randy Abercrombie and @lordmarcovan thanks for bringing this to the Forum. Good luck to all who enter the 12 rounds.
I would like to nominate @Inspector43 to receive the prize if my number is chosen.
Here is an emperor who had a very short reign, 6 months
    TACITUS Antoninianus. Ticinum mint.
Obverse: IMP C M CL TACITVS AVG. Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust right.
Reverse: PAX AVGVSTI. Pax standing left, holding olive branch and transverse sceptre; P in exergue.
    RIC 150, Cohen 72. Ticinum mint, early-June 276. 3,5 g - 22,5 mm

Marcus Claudius Tacitus was Roman emperor from 275 to 276. During his short reign, following the death of Aurelian, he campaigned against the Goths and the Heruli, for which he received the title Gothicus Maximus
    Born: 200 AD, Terni, Italy
Died: June 276 AD Tyana, Cappodocia, Turkey.
    Siblings Florianus
    Reign: c. December 275 – c. June 276.
His Regnal name is shortened in the obverse Legend: IMPerator Caesar Marcus CLavdius TACITVS AVGustus.
The details that have survived nearly 1800 years is amazing.
    Happy holidays everyone.

I want this lot!!!! I am also in the "never found a W" boat.

Here is a new acquisition. I have always wanted a piece of playing card currency. Heritage had a few that went for reasonable prices this week.

@expat First I would like to say thanks for nominating me. Second, I too am often surprised by the amount of detail on 1800-year-old coins. I have one very similar to the Tacitus you posted above. Actually, from the same mint and time. I have never posted this one but thought you wouldn't mind seeing the detail. I have another Tacitus I will include simply because it supports our interest in detail.
Tacitus AE Antoninianus. IMP CM CL TACITVS AVG, Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust right / SECVRIT PERP, Securitas standing left; u-shaped mintmark. RIC 163, Cohen 131. Ticinium Mint 276 AD

Tacitus AE Antoninianus. IMP C M CL TACITVS AVG, radiate, cuirassed bust right / LAETITIA FVND, Laetitia standing left holding wreath and rudder set on globe. Mintmark XXIB. RIC 89, Cohen 52. AD 275 – 276
    upload_2024-11-28_11-0-59.png
The detail on these yours and mine is amazing.

CoinCorgi Tell your dog I said hi!

Count me in for day #1.

I know this is a Christmas thing, but today it is still Thanksgiving! So here is a Mardi Gras doubloon from the Krewe of Poseidon that features a Dutch Indianman. The Mayflower was a Dutch cargo fluyt, but this is pretty close. Connect the dots on your own.

Hmm. Odd choice of photos. Interesting? Yes. “Coin related or cheerful?” Not quite. ;)

But your nomination of @Abramthegreat is in the right spirit, for sure.
Nah, it’s a holiday thing. Not just Christmas. COINmas spans the whole season between Thanksgiving and Christmas, so it’s all of the above. In one celebration. With coins. :)

I definitely want this lot! It sounds like a fantastic mix of history and unique pieces—especially the 2020-W Tallgrass Prairie quarter with the 'V75' privy mark; what a meaningful design. Here's a cheerful coin-related thought: every coin tells a story, not just of the year it was minted, but of all the hands it's passed through. Thanks for the opportunity to add a little more history to my collection!

If you find the pickled, severed head of an executed serial killer “delightful”, I’m worried about you.

Now, I won’t say it wasn’t interesting- it piqued my own morbid curiosity and I’ll probably Google it to read more.

But c’mon, man. There’s a place for content like that- and it ain’t here.

“Coin-related or cheerful” was the instruction. That photo was neither. Know your audience.

Welcome to CoinTalk! In honor of that being your first post, here’s an extra entry in the drawing for you. This means that you will win if the random number generator selects 40 as the lucky number (since this is Post #40). Same as if it lands on the number 35 (your original entry was Post #35).

And remember- even if you don’t win this round, there will be eleven more drawings in the contest, for eleven more prize lots. :)
