Sent some of my Jefferson nickels to ICG recently and did fine, lots of MS-66s. But this was the best of the bunch - any chance it'd crossover at PCGS? It would be their highest graded non-FS for the date/mm.
Nice coin, with an accurate grade from ICG. I don't think PCGS will cross any coin other than NGC and vice versa.
I've found ICG to be pretty strict when it comes to MS coins at least. I've had stuff come back MS62, 63 that I thought would be higher. But just my opinion based on my experience.
I believe NCG will only cross PCGS but I think PCGS will recognize NCG, ANACS, & ICG. I haven't looked at it lately though.
You are most likely to receive a consistent and accurate grade from ICG. Shame other graders can not follow suit and the market place turns its nose down at the ICG label. But the astute collector can use this to advantage by picking up accurately graded coins at bargain "lower tier" prices. Learning to grade is paramount to obtain quality coins at the right price.
I have heard a lot of people trash ICG in the past without a single leg to stand on. I 100% respect ICG's grading, as I have several graded coins from them that seem to all be accurate. Not to mention the PCGS/CAC loyalists. As a dealer, if it's graded accurately, I will try to buy it (if I can afford it). Trust me, I have seen clearly cleaned coins in straight-graded PCGS (Poor Consistency Grading Service) holders. Sure, there are a fair share of accurately graded coins, but not like people claim.
