I bought it as a proof set in 1964 and I sold it as a proof set last week. I thought that some of you would be amazed that the one cooper-nickel Anna from Pakistan that cost me 25 cents sold for $15.00. And I'm willing to bet that nobody here knows why. Furthermore, one of our members complained that my selling prices for Italian coins were too high citing high mintage numbers.
Well in spite of high mintage numbers, all of the tourists that go to Italy, about the population of Italy itself, love to carry away bushels of Italian coins thereby reducing the number of available Italian coins, especially the silver ones. Like I said before, "Che bello!" Datasuh niceuh.

As one Italian priest said at mass, quoting Jesus: "O voi di poca fede...." "Oh yee of little faith...."

I'm happy that you're a millionaire but what's high up on the food chain today are billionaires.

You are very smart. Can you tell me somebody would buy a one Anna coin copper nickel coin from Pakistan for $15.00?

Quite right. Your previous threads have broken my faith in taking things you say at face value

Confession is good for the soul. I'm recalling the 1964 proof set back.

And that's the thing... an eyebrow-raising number of people here like to not so slyly imply they're big shot dealers/sellers (no offense to those who don't) yet so many are surprised by nothings like this. I can only guess most have never actually done the dirty work and personally met with the unfortunately large percentage of ill-informed collectors involved in this hobby.

On one hand I could say that anyone wanting any coin for their collection might pay whatever they want to if they want it bad enough ( 1 Anna Pakistan ). One the other hand I cannot fathom why, even though you purchased the supposed 1964 "Proof" set, which it clearly is not, would you want to re-sell it as a "Proof" set knowing this? Respectfully asking, do you not see something wrong with this? Am I missing something you are not telling us? I really do hope you are asking for this set back and refund the buyer. No need to go to confession that way.

And that, sir, makes you part of the real problem. Just because you claim to have originally purchased it as such doesn't mean you can rightfully pass it on as the same. Sooner or later some innocent person is going to have to clean up your mess, and more often than not they'll be the ones labeled the "thief" or "bad guy" because they could only offer a small fraction of the original price.

It's great for you that the set achieved such a price, but at what cost? Are you so poor as to need that few dollars so desperately you're willing to possibly kill someone's collecting interest? Do you not grasp the FACT that much, much more can be made from selling to a long term regular customer than by a one time screw over? Yes, I realize eBay has turned much of this hobby into a free for all screwfest, but that doesn't make it right. A spine is a terrible thing to waste...

I'm very surprised that you refer to the ill informed, as IDIOTS, shame on you. And a Moderator no less.

Hmm... let's see. He's talking about people who purchase using an online venue, meaning they've internet access and can spend time searching out things to waste their money on, but can be so bothered as to actually educate themselves about what it is they're buying. This, sir, perfectly fits the definition of an "idiot", but you're right... let's all shed a tear for stupidity and instead fling poo at a man for not coddling such idiots. How dare he!

Calling someone, anyone, an idiot, is not nice. I read that in a book B4 I collected coins.
