A very budget 1854 large cent PCGS XF-45

    Not every coin needs to be expensive to be enjoyable. And sometimes you can find some fun XF coins that don't break the bank and are still a pleasure to own and look at. This is one of them. Don't get better than this, cheaper than it costs to take the family out to a cheap and cheerful restaurant for a meal.

    It's very hard to find circulated Large Cents with smooth surfaces.

    Sometimes I wonder if it was a lack of supplies that made most early large cents corrode. It's weird, though, seeing that corrosion can come up on all kinds of metals, especially these zinc cents.

    I don't buy every coin in Mint State, contrary to what some might think.
