Going through my 5 lb bag from civitas and I found this: 1955 5 Centavos, Mexico, different from 1945 as you can see. 42-55 share the same characteristics, KM#424 Seems to be struck on a smaller, thinner planchet. Weighs 5.5 gr as opposed to the `1945's 6.3 gr. and 25mm as opposed to 27mm. May I have your learned opinions? True error or not.
You can see the thick rim on the one on the left which isn't present on the other one. Lots of wear will do this. I have a super worn Morgan that rattles around in its capsule since it had so much metal worn off.
I can't tell you if it's an error, but just wanted to weigh in with some possibly relevant info. In 1955 there were two types of 5 centavo, and the second type is smaller and a different color. The design of the new type is different, so you definitely have the old design on what looks like a newer planchet. Is that what happened? I don't know. But maybe this will help.
@Hiddendragon can you post any sites for this: "In 1955 there were two types of 5 centavo, and the second type is smaller and a different color."
I would expect to see more wear in the center of this coin had the rim worn off. Looks like someone may have filed/ sanded the rim off. If had been struck on a smaller planchet at the mint chances that it would be stuck dead center would be slim, but still a possibility. Note the denticals on reverse, they show it was struck centered. And none on the obverse, I note a beveled edge there.

Found another like it: http://www.ebay.com/itm/MEXICO-5-ce...514122?hash=item4b0599d24a:g:prMAAOSwZVlXo3tr The design appears smashed down on both sides on this coin, like someone had it in a vise.
