I am being offered these coins for $1,200. The price sounds good, but what do you think? I know large cents are often counterfeited. Thanks! coins1.jpg coins2.jpg

I don’t like the looks of the 8 Reales and I would want the other 2 authenticated.
    Otherwise I would pass…imo…Spark

The Pillar dollar is heavily chopmarked. I wouldn't be too worried about authenticity.
At auction the seated dollar at F10 are going for hundreds more than the whole lot. This makes me pause and pass. If real the 63 Dollar would grade around a F15

For $1,200.00, consider paying down your mortgage or auto loan.
THAT would pay dividends. Buying the pieces depicted will steal any dividends you were thinking about.

Thankfully, I am debt free with no mortgages or loans. I have some money set aside for investments, and this looked like a possibility. I appreciate the feedback.

Some investment advice you didn't ask for:
    S&P 500 ETF from Fidelity.
Fund your account. Buy shares. Never look at the market or your returns. Add more cash and purchase more shares as your income/budget allows.

The pieces you posted is not going to be an investment.
It would be the direct defined opposite of an investment, should you decide to go the 'my precious" route. It did not work out in the movie, and it definitely will not work out now.

Thanks! I mean investment as in buying and selling. I have done good so far, but don't want to risk needlessly. I appreciate your advice and will pass on this offer.

All of the money is really in the 1863 Liberty Seated Dollar. The Large Cent is nice and the 1791 Dollar is very chopped marked. I have no worries about it being the real thing. If I was offered these coins at this price, I’d pass without a single thought.

This would be beyond risk, since you state you have been buying and selling with modest success, because those you sell to, would brand the contemplated action as an attempt to deceive a buyer by carney barking junk as legitimate and those you buy from will view you as a depository of their junk. Such an action damages your personal reputation, and that can never be reclaimed, once other collectors (buyers or sellers) are aware.

It is the equivalent of Spankys Fine Used Car Emporium And Unclaimed Luggage Sales.

    Savvy?

Truth in editing: replaced "th" with "ll".

I am a collector at heart, but update my collection as other pieces filter in (I am more of a type collector than date/mintmark). If I see a deal, I have no qualms in flipping it. I certainly would never knowingly sell a counterfeit coin. I would sooner accept personal loss. It seems like that is what you are insinuating I am doing. If not, I misunderstand you. My reputation is important. I strive for honesty and integrity. I am in school and am trying different avenues to add income. I am quickly finding that this sort of business requires a lot more experience than I have. I sincerely appreciate the feedback I have received.

No insinuation at all. You presented your questions and commentary in a manner that I interpreted as a person exploring the buying and selling of pieces in a long term investment plan, because it is my experience that collectors and hobbyists do not generally apply investing as the reason for their purchases.

My lifelong experience was shared as a doitright advisory to the investor path being contemplated. There was no doubt that you are a young adult, and could use perspective without BS.

Why in this present world do we automatically assume the words or ideas expressed by a person suggesting decision points to consider, as a possible personal attack?

What the hell has happened to us? I can not ever recall such automatic assumption and condemnation of a person without any cause or basis.

Might you take a moment to consider supportive words in response to previous Posts you have made here?

Jesus. But, I understand. I will avoid any comments of innocent intent toward your Posts in the future.

Frankly, by the wording of your first post, I was not sure how to read it. This post is very clear. Don't hold back. I prefer in-person conversation because that gives me more to read and follow. Posts are not so easy. I accept your "points to consider." Thank you for your response!
