There are 36 die varieties of Capped Bust Quarters/Reduced Size (1831-1838).
My criterion: VF or XF (I do have one AU-50).
I now have 27, the most recent from Rich Uhrich.
There are two more at NGC that are close to being completed and shipped.
And finally one more coming from a recent eBay purchase which will have to go to a TPG to have the Browning Number placed on the label.

So that makes my count 30 of 36.

Now the tough part -- the last 6.

One is an R-2; it should be relatively easy to find, just a matter of time.
BUT then it gets tough to impossible.
    One R-4+
    One R-5
    One R-5+
    One R-6
    One R-8 (only 2 or 3 known)

I would like to get these as original BUT I will seriously consider DETAILS/Genuine coins.

You are one of the ones whom I live my numismatic life thru vicariously. :)

Has a complete set been done before? And could you identify those specific issues lacking? I immediately went to look for that R8 variety and found no mention online.

Actually my set is a subset of Capped Bust Quarters.
I'm doing just the Reduced Size coins (1831-1838).
Don't know if someone has already completed the set.
If they have it's probably a complete set (1815-1838).
Maybe someone from the John Reich Society would know.

As for the particular coins I'm missing here's the list with Browning numbers.
Rarity according to the Tompkins book; the Peterson book has slightly different rarities.

    R-2 - 1831 B-2
    R-4+ - 1835 B-8
    R-5 - 1837 B-5
    R-5+ - 1831 B-7
    R-6+ - 1836 B-5
    R-8 - 1837 B-8

The Russ Logan Collection appears to have gotten pretty close to having all of the capped bust quarter Browning varieties. Check it out here: http://rob.com/russ/collection/

I think that some of the missing varieties (like 1821 B-6 and 1837 B-6) may not have been discovered when Logan assembled the collection.

    He's also randomly missing 1820 B-3, R.3, which isn't particularly rare.

Congrats on getting so close on the set. A nice collage of the set would be nice.

I had most of it in an NGC Registry Set.
But thanks to a change in the NGC Registry Set policy the set has been removed -- by me.
And also my 15 other Competitive sets and three Custom Sets.

What would be nice would be a third party development of a Registry Set site independent of the slabbing TPGs.
My knowledge is way out of date and my skills have eroded too much for me to try it.
