Here is a Spanish 8 Reales that I picked up with another coin. This is the first one I have ever handled, but it seems genuine to me. My scale puts it at 26.2 grams, which is a bit heavy from my research. It appears that most counterfeits err on the light side. It has a medal rather than a coin alighnment. What are your thoughts? Thank you!
They are pretty coins. And the inspiration for the US silver dollar. Congrats on your first one. PS: Yours is 1792, not 1799. And it was also minted in Mexico just like mine. Of course Mexico was part of the Spanish Empire at the time.
Little late to have come over on the Mayflower But that counter stamp must be the earliest sign of the OK symbol
