Been there, done that with PCGS Currency. And to answer your question about whether anyone stays behind at the shop during shows, my experience was that no one even answers the phone.
Iam livid i have called several time already with no response !! there customer service is HORRIBLE !!!
That's pretty funny considering my CC payment didn't go through one time as the bank didn't process my payment, but I got ahold of the person they told me to call at 730am(there time). First ring too, when they want your $$ they will answer promptly.
Why don't we each fire off an email to ANACS...we could ask them to consider going into the currency grading side especially in view of the issues here and who knows on the coin side what might ensue due to the recent NGC "no cross-over" policy with registers...and if I read the article correctly...there was more to come. Just a thought.
I think your talking about taking for example a PCGS coin still in its holder and putting it in to a NGC registry, iam talking about taking a PMG note and then regrading it with a PCGS label on it, i will be calling them again tomorrow morning That is if they plan on taking the whole week off
Update: The frustration continues ! i just got a call from Mary at PCGS informing me that they were at a show this past weekend and she was returning my call along with others who had made inquiries, what really aggravated me is what she said next we will be working until Wed afternoon but would not guarantee my note would be completed we our now on the 37th day and counting on the 20 day program almost double what was promised
I seriously doubt it, they use words like approximately it there turn around time so they protect themselves from things just like this but i will tell you what i will Think twice before using them again, i have not had the same bad results with PMG, they have always delivered on time.
If my memory is correct, I did get a partial refund for a similar situation. But it required me to make several phone calls before that happened (which means that someone from PCGS Currency needs to answer the phone).
answer the phone is the "Key Word" it really shouldnt be this hard, i only have one note that needs graded
If only you could pay approximately what they charge. Lol. They really need more graders, overtime, or something, on time delivery is paramount, as well as quality, for customer satisfaction, no matter what type of business. I know good knowledgeable numismatists aren't easy to find, and expensive, but they should be able to train some more people if needed. Of coarse that slows down their production also. Too many shows which they send their graders for on the spot grading, but I'm sure they make a decent profit, as well as keeping the" brand " relevant. They might be able to catch up during the winter months, maybe. Ultimately, they are considered the best service, so until another company is able to convince people that they are equal or better, ( which can't happen overnight ), we are at their mercy. Jmo
I know for a fact that both PCGS and PMG make money hand over fist, there is no secret there, just do the math at $35 per note, we can use just the regular submission price at 50 notes an hour which is on the conservative side that,s $1,750 times 8 hrs that,s $14,000 a day and over $400,000 a month, that,s allot of money for sub-par service That is plenty of money to hire a stay at home staff and improve there performance and customer service
I just received some back from PMG last week, my first paper submission, and it took that long but there website does state a 35 day wait.
thats fine if its so stated, but i was promised a 20 day turn around and paid extra For that to get less is not acceptable especially with the run around ive been getting
Update: day 43, called PCGS this morning and left message, have not once called and got a live person (status on website still listed as Ok..LOL) But since it,s 23 days late as of today it,s anything but Ok
Don't you all get it? TPGS's charge for speed of service. If you pay for 5 day service and they are jammed with 1 or 2 day service submissions your 5 day could take 10! What do you think happens with 20 day orders? Oh....
