So I picked this 1976-D Type 1 Eisenhower Peg Leg dollar up the other day, and as I am looking it over again when I get home, I noticed that it was a strike through. The strike though occurred at the date is pretty decent in size. I thought maybe @Cascade and @DysfunctionalVeteran might appreciate this piece as well as any of you Ike collectors.
Nice coin jtlee! I went to the coin shop this weekend and found two killer Rosies, including one in FB. I'll post pics later.
The edges are perfectly flush and sharp. The only area that is raised is along the edge of the tail of the 9 where the metal was able to flow into the recess of the die. I thought it was a hit when I first glanced at it, then after looking at it under magnification, realized it was a strike through.
Not saying it isn't. The depression of the 7 actually speaks for S/T Its just the edge lines between the 9-7 that looked pushed up. Could be a lighting trick though.
Here are those coins I mentioned @jtlee321 These would look amazing with your photography skills. The fluorescent light does exaggerate the marks on the 62-D.
