As I'm currently rebuilding my Greek, Provincial and Roman Imperial collections one of the sets I wanted to concentrate on was Gordian III. I have slowly been making progress. These are about half of the coins in my Imperial Gordian III Collection as I still need to photograph the rest.
Very impressive. Not a dog in the collection. Full readable lettering, no guessing. All well centered. How many more are you still holding? How many to complete the collection? Are other emperors going to get this much attention? Thanks for sharing.
Thank you very much. I have at least another 50+ to photograph; so double what is shown. I want to collect as many "standard" issue coins which consist of antoninianus, denarius, and aureus so I still need approximately 140-150. This will take some time as the aureus are rare and expensive. Yes, I plan on expanding my collection with as many emperors as possible. I will continue to fill Gordian gaps as possible but I'm starting to shift to Philip I, Octacilia Severa, and Philip II.
I started with Gordian III because his coins are the "cheapest" and most readily available with a good mix of antoniniani and denarii. Philip I and Philip II are probably the next most readily available coins yet I've been seeing a lot less high quality one's for sale.
That's what was I thinking alright! I seem to have picked up a few (unintended) coins of Philip I and II from auctions because they were good value. Happy hunting.
