I ran this across a few people here yesterday, but for some reason I'm just really curious. This is way out of my realm I should know this already I admit I'm a little suprised I'm even asking. Maybe its just that I've taken myself out of the modern coins in favor of ancient coins that I've forgotten. I've never been one to look at errors, definately not a collector. I found this in a pitcher of wheat cents I put away several years ago and forgot I had. I had some time to kill this weekend so I started going through them. Your opinions? worth holding on to? I only found a couple out of the thing some may consider keepers.
Looks like just a slight case of MD. Pretty flat and shelf-like. I was thinking Die Deterioration but the rest of the coin doesn't show that.
It's the same one I showed you, Tom & Phil yesterday. See a little in Liberty & In God E Trust but not as much in the date & mint mark. You're right I don't see die deteriation. I've looked a little trid to match it up didn't find much to compare with.
I agree its MD thats not what asking. Seems I put all my moderns on the back burner for a while in favor to collect ancients. I've forgotten some or atleast needed a kick to remember. I don't take a coin & look for errors specifically, this & the 54 die crack caught my eye otherwise I wouldn't have noticed either. I'm really looking for confirmation because this has never been in my collecting realm.
