@Insider - After reading HIS replies I feel this a 14 year old kid and not a 49 year old woman from California!! The replies are just so child-like and, not wanting to learn and posting a 100 pictures of an obviously damaged coin just does not ring as an ADULT post. It resonates of a little kid starting a tantrum because he did not get what he wanted!!

 

With all due respect, ma'am; his post and response to you are both perfectly acceptable and absolutely logical. When in school did the teacher do EVERYTHING for you, or did you have a textbook as well that often required you to search out information from additional sources? Well, that's essentially what you have here; there are specialized sources that can teach you much more about certain things/aspects of this hobby than we can so simply explain, plus you're then getting it from an acknowledged expert source whereas here it's the luck of the draw. You may get a response from someone who knows what they're talking about, but on the other hand you may get one from someone just pretending to (and yes... it happens all the time).

You also may want to consider the fact that not everyone has the time, patience, or wherewithal to sit here day in and day out explaining/answering the same questions in intricate detail for the umpteenth time. I say this not to be mean or rude, but simply because it's true. Yes, this place is in large part for learning, but also for discussing and some do prefer to spend their free time discussing what they enjoy as opposed to repeatedly doing for others what they can easily do for themselves. Education/learning is a two-way street, so while most here are more than happy to help as much as we can, sometimes the individual seeking said help needs to help us help them by doing their part.

 

I disagree. Typical Californian - YES! Otherwise, IMO she is just a fiery, independent, woman who has been mistreated somewhere/sometime in the past. So we better get off the thread pronto

I agree, and sympathize with you.

 

IMO, if someone, anyone, asks a question, you should answer the question to the best of your ability, try to explain how you arrived at that conclusion, then offer outside reference to further their education on coinage in such a way as to not insult the person that has asked for help, or don't respond at all. Some people here are very helpful, while others are just plain, holier than thou pompous, and arrogant. Now I suppose it's time to release the trolls from their caves / underground dwellings.

Yet you do absolutely nothing to try to help, educate, or assist her.

Half of the post you quoted is pure nonsense. No one is calling her stupid, trying to make her out to be an idiot, or is pushing her away. No one is telling her she's not good enough to be here. The problem is she simply refuses to make the tiniest effort, and instead wants to blame everyone but herself.

If you agree and sympathize, you should also be willing to invest your free time, no matter how long it may take, into answering her questions in the exact fashion she demands. I'll look forward to your lesson...

Where to start ? #1 I started my post with IMO. I believe that I am entitled to that. # 2 I don't consider myself an expert on damaged coinage, if I felt that I could offer a helpful answer to the question, I would have. #3 before you resort to calling someone a hypocrite, you should have some knowledge of whom you are referring. #4 if someone doesn't want to answer a question, then perhaps they shouldn't. #5 don't I deserve some credit for an accurately prediction at the end of the post that upset you so much ? 4) Clearly you still don't get it. She was given a perfectly reasonable and intelligent answers by not one but two different members before starting the nonsense. The OP now has 14 threads under her belt, all on pretty much the same rather simple subject, so it's not like this was her first rodeo. It's high time the kid gloves came off and she learned to do something for herself instead of getting pissy with others for refusing to do HER work for her. In addition, did you happen to notice her subforum of choice? When someone so steadfastly REFUSES to learn yet keeps asking how much something is worth, it's a pretty good indicator of their true motivations.
