It's VERY hard to get a peg on their value because they're not listed in the Cherrypicker's Guide for who knows what reason. Other similar coin varieties such as the 1982-P half dollar missing FG are listed. I do know they are VERY hard to find as I've only found 4 of the 1990-D missing the designers initials FS in over 215,000 coins searched. For comparison's sake, I have found 5 1939-S, and 3 1938-D Jefferson nickels to date.

In terms of their value, my best estimate is probably around $2.50 in VF, $4 in AU, and $8 in BU... but I have very little data to work with thanks to Cherrypicker's unwarranted neglect of this variety. Every once in a while, you'll see an example go up on auction sites... but I don't think they will realize their true value until they get listed in the Cherrypicker's Guide.

I've been asking for CWRs of halves at banks for 3 years with no luck. I picked up 3 CWRs of halves this week and finally got lucky!

    2, 64's
    2, 65's
    0, 66's
    8, 67's
    6, 68's
    2, 69's

A bank held $420 in cwr halves for me. The lady who brought them in knew there were some old ones but she just wanted to exchange them with the bank. At least that is the story the teller told me.

I was disappointed to find only two part silver halves.

And now I had to do a dump run.

Apparently someone threw a bunch of large dollars into the coin counting machine. They were in the reject bin. 12 of them, so I was twelve dollars ahead.

Of course one of those dollars was a 1921 Morgan...my fourth silver dollar found in circulation!

    Weekly 2 boxes.
    1: skunk
    2: 4x 40%

I think I might do like a one time 8 box order to see if I can dig deeper. Been dismal lately.

Huh. I didn't know about this error either. Guess I should keep my eye out for them. Thx for the explanation.

You're welcome... and good luck! The 1990-D missing the designers initials FS was highly publicized when they were discovered, especially in Numismatic News... As a result, I found 8 of them back in the day...
