Lyrics Giving this one more chance with lots of hope

    Hi everyone,

First, thank you to those of you that took the time to write me and say give this place a chance and that its not always like that here. You guys make this place worth while. Thank you for your time I was most appreciative of it.

Now onto interesting topics like interesting quarters. Please note this 1990 d has a wide variety of damage done to it. But what is strange it looks like it is pre . Not sure what that's called but damage that was done at the print edition.

I will post more in reply section

20161111_195857.jpg 20161111_195857.jpg 20161111_195824.jpg 20161111_195758.jpg The only reason why I say this is because it's shaped funny. It also looks like it has a gold tone under it not copper. Also if you look at the edges and the actual holes they seem to Mar the writing or when it was first printed this is just my opinion and I'm usually wrong so please feel free to let me know what you think. Thank you so much

Thank you for the reply. im learning and the damage appeared to be under the lettering or the numbers especially at the date. So I wasn't sure but I was willing to take a chance and show all those pictures for you guys at least people can learn from my pictures what is actual damage before and after. Thanks again

Your photos are good. I'm being serious (not snarky) and this is what I suggest you do to speed up your learning process. Get a bunch of brand new quarters from the bank. Then take a hammer, screwdriver, pliers, etc. and damage them up real good. Take some toothpaste and scrub one. Then use baking soda. Throw one in the dryer for a week. Put one into a glass of coke and watch what happens in a few weeks. Crush two coins together with a sledge hammer or vice. HAVE FUN! If you take my suggestions, IMHO, you will know more about damaged coins than 20% of the people posting here.

While your coin is soaking, go on the internet and read about mint errors such as laminations, and clips of all kinds as these can mimic the look of damage.

Finally, join a coin club or the ANA when you really get the coin bug.

But instead of doing all that i came here to learn from you guys... where you are supposed to teach instead of sending students to other places to do other things. This is supposed to be the end-all to get all learning education place and why it is an open forum. If I'm wrong I'll be glad to go to those other places to learn. But I thought this was the place to learn

Again... isn't this the place I'm supposed to learn at? I mean seriously this is the forum for asking questions right? That is what I get when it says what is my coin value worth? As if I'm supposed to ask questions to learn from you guys who are better than the average person in knowing about coins. And that means I come here to learn from you. And I would like to think is that this is where I would learn. Not from some other location that you sent me to.

If you don't want newbies to come in here and ask questions then don't be a part of this forum. Seriously it's irritating to be told to go somewhere else when the whole thing is to bring newbies in here and teach us.

We come here to learn not be told to go elswhere.

If i cant' just ask questions about coins that are honest decent questions and you can't answer without telling me to go learn somewhere else, then what value do you have in an open public forum that invites people to ask questions?

I really hate the attitude of come on in... we will answer your question for you, sign up... then when you ask that question you are pointed at some place else, insinuated that you are an idiot for not knowing .... of course not in a snarky way. And that is totally because you're simply too lazy to teach yourself. If you dont want newbies to come in and learn from you then close your forums to newbies.

You just cant help yourself... can you... sigh.

@Markus1959 answered your question right away.
I gave you some further advice. :angelic:

I'm sorry you got the impression that I am running you off. As I wrote above, you will learn more about mint errors by spending time on the internet reading the opinions of experts and studying the photos. Trying to create your own with tools and coins is a class project at some error seminars. It works!

While you are learning from professional numismatists on the internet, any questions or coins you post will receive opinions. The more you learn the better you will be able to sift through the opinions here - correct and not.

    Happy  collecting!

PS :jawdrop: Ladies from my generation don't use the language in your post. I hope you have time to edit it. o_O

Again read my note to your conversation with me. this is a public forum that invites newbie collectors in. we dont come here to be told we are stupid and we need to go learn somewhere else. we come here to learn about our specific situation and specific coin. To teach us that we are stupid and need to go elsewhere to learn more, is nothing more than a foolish move to make us feel like idiots. It is not something we asked for , is not something we wanted from her and to be told that we need to go also to learn is basically telling us that we're not good enough to be here. Perhaps this isn't your intention but is exactly how it comes across. Perhaps it would be better if you just answer the question instead of trying to implement education on the unwilling and.running us off.

WOW! I say sometimes yes, the uninformed wanna be learner may take things from an experienced numismatist as an insult, but in reality they have so much knowledge about the hobby that they don't realize they are giving advice to a "newbie" that might not understand their language or where they are coming from and going to! It took me at least a year to appreciate the advice and stop being so defensive about what I though I knew!
And to say @Insider would ever call anybody an IDIOT is your interpretation and never would what he actually meant. It took me a while to understand him but now that he has given me a different Professional view on coin collecting I value his opinions - Just saying!
Give CT a chance and learn from the collective - NOT a singularity!
