You mean according to the cookballs at CONECA? Yeah, it could be. Everything else is. Ever look over their Wheats? I think they’ve got way too much time on their hands. Didn’t used to be that way. They need to take up crocheting, some challenging hobby. Sooner than later, I’d think, before they go totally off the deep end. They’re already in a world of their own. Who cares about 90% of that junk they capture there? This R is filled with some crap, it doesn’t break off, the thing is incuse on the die. They can’t even call that correctly they’re by this point so lost in the weeds.
When you have virtually one or more of every coin ever issued for circulation in the last 125+ years (dollars to cents) variations is a good way to fill time and stay in the hobby.
http://www.varietyvista.com/01a LC Doubled Dies Vol 1/1936PDDO011.htm on Variety Vista shows the R but is listed as a DDO. I guess they gave it that cute moniker in the comments. I agree that a lot of these "light extra thickness" varieties strain credulity.
All of this nit-picking over an insignificant variation. It is not going to change the direction of the hobby or the participants (collectors). I wonder though. Some years back I posted a very significant error that drew very little interest. See the thread below and perhaps the analysts/critics can tell us why. Is it because it takes less effort to offer an opinion on the greaser? Or, is it because of the population and frequency of such incidentals? I think it is interesting to see what others have found and know that there is some commonality to be discovered after decades in the wild. https://www.cointalk.com/threads/2011-ase-ddo.325484/
