Plus the cashier's at Walmart don't know what to do with Half Dollars or Presidential sized dollars (or $2 bills). It's ... just ... not ... money ...
Cashiers at WalMart can't do math either. You total is $4.79. You give them $5.04 and they are perplexed. OK, if they just punch in the total amount you give them, the register will tell them the proper amount to give as change. I was just using poetic license and WalMart as an example, for all types of cashiers everywhere. At Walmart, I use the self serve. At first I was against it, as they have me bagging my own stuff. But it didn't take long to realize there was no line, and it was much faster getting in and out of there.
Probably for the same reason we refuse to use the metric system. I really like that. I hope it gets adopted.
This is pretty nice, except for one thing: I HATE the '$1' designation on dollar coins. They look like amusement park tokens!! Spell out the denomination please: 'One Dollar'
All the official weights and measures of the United States are in the metric system. Check any package you wish and you will find the weight or volume in metric units. I have also seen food value in kilojoules!!! BTW, what is the official definition of an inch?.......................................................................................................................2.54 cm.
But some of us with little tiny hands have little tiny thumbs I have also heard three grains of wheat laid end to end.
