I got this from a foreign junk bin at my LCS because I thought it was neat. To my surprise it looks like people are asking quite a bit for them on eBay, though I know that asking prices don't necessarily mean anything. Still, seems like it might be worth more than a few bucks. Anyone know anything about this? lincoln.jpg

I found this through Google image search... (1864) Token F-132/149a Copper Lincoln-Johnson Patriotic, BN (Regular Strike) Civil War Tokens - PCGS CoinFacts

Nice score. I imagine any legitimate Lincoln campaign piece would have collector interest.

Looks like it is worth more than a few bucks given these eBay sales:

Maybe @johnmilton can provide more details about the token?

This piece is listed as a Civil War Token and as a political token. There are two minor varieites of it. Both varieties are somewhat scarce, and they have always been priced higher than the common Civil War Tokens.

The first one is Fuld 132/149a. The Lincoln obverse die broke and had to be replaced. This is rated as an R-4, CWT rarity scale 201 to 500 known. I'd say that it is on the lower end of that scale.

The second one is Fuld 132A/149a. It is rarity rated as an R-5, 76 to 199 known.

The most obvious difference between 132 and 132A is that the second one does not have Robert Lovet's initials, "RL", below the Lincoln bust.

Lovet also made a George McClellan token in the same size and style. McClellan ran against Lincoln in 1864. McClellan's running mate was George Pendleton. Lovet got his initial wrong and entered it as "J. H. Pendleton." This piece is much scarcer than the Lincoln tokens. It's listed as an R-6, 21 to 75 known. My guess would be that there are about 50 of these pieces.

The OP example appears to be fairly well-circulated. Were they using these as money?

Like many Civil War tokens, it may have been. The piece is cent sized. It also may have been carried as a picket piece.
