Based on the two order number inputs we have, 11,000 or more new orders were placed in the first 11 minutes. I'm still guessing on a sellout within 2 hours.
Approximately 18,500 orders in 1 hour. Its difficult to guess how many gold halves are in there... Any given order could have up to 3 coins and some orders could have zero. I think it will be the best looking of the three so it should be popular, but the price limits the possible customer pool. I don't think it will sell out today.
Probably best to use an Avg of 1, rounded up because some will have 3, some will have 2 some will have 1 and some orders are for other coins altogether, thus 0 So probably 20,000 sold so far. based on more individuals buying the coins vs flippers due to the SLQ history and higher entry price.
people value coins in various ways, For instance I have NO *want* for the Mercury gold coin. Thus my *desired* price is close to Spot. Whereas I have a *want* for the Walking Liberty. Thus my *desired* price is the current price. If I was strickly looking at the coins as bullion I would skip it and just buy bullion rounds (or something else) to get as close to spot as possible. You also have a Numismatic valuation which is based on Demand, etc. And that will be forthtelling in the future. So we are either overpriced or underpriced on future valuation. Time will tell. How do you value a 1800 Copper Penny. Based on Spot price of copper ?
You can spend your money any way you choose. As a collector, I could see getting one, but as far as a quick flip, ( which is what I replied to. ) I can't see it, you would need to charge around $ 1000.00 to make it worthwhile. I just don't see that happening with mintage of 70,000, unless you sell on Coin Vault. Comparing this coin to a 1800 copper penny, I'll let you know in about 216 years.
Thank you CCoins...I really am stunned to see these so low and the TV guys are all waaaay high still to this day...I expected that early on but I did not expect the drop we're seeing...I'm noticing the gold JFK is dropping too. Thanks again!
Yes, I expected at least a year to two years before falling prices. But I'm guessing a few ppl who bought them to flip and got stuck with them decided to cash out for something else. Coins stuck in inventory is cash sitting on the shelf. And if they wanted to get into something else for hopefully a quick flip, it makes sense to liquidate some inventory if something isn't selling as expected. JFK - $1195 BIN is the best price I see for that .. but $1109 PCGS slabbed Sooner or later I want the 2009 Liberty high relief gold.
when gold was up to the mid $1300's earlier this year, the Kennedy halves were selling quite close to spot. Even right now, completed ebay listings have many under $1100 with a few right around $1000.
