I like the overall great strike. In some cases, the strong steps seem to come at the expense of somewhere (or everywhere) else. This coin is simply terrific all over.
And the photo doesn't show it but there is just a hint of copper toning at 9 oclock, and a bit more at 3 oclock.
Sorry Barnie but I've confused two coins. I thought you were looking at the 1903 O. Not the 1894 0. My apologies.
The 1903 O looks MS+ to me. The 1894 O looks AU58 or better. Photos are hard to judge. And I missed seeing the O on the 1894. While it's still a great coin, a P in that condition is what blew my mind.
I upgraded to the 94 O from an XF. But it has a scuff just above the eye. I'd be happy with AU58. Still chasing the 94P.
I did not notice the scuff until you pointed it out. But you never know what grader you'll get. Some let bagmarks/scuffs slide as a MS deduction point, some call it circulation wear. PCGS seems to let little things slide if the coin has few flaws and great luster, whereas the stuff I send to ANACS gets technically graded stricter. Go figure.
Baggy cheek but I'll bet it looks better in hand. From your photogs the piece looks 'proof like'. Very nice.
1853/2 Sweet AU50 w CAC certification. Missing piece in my type one collection. Been waiting for a good piece that fit my collection.
1822 Coronet cent, N-6, PCGS AU58 BN. Considering the present PCGS trend price shown on the cert page is $1,700 (which admittedly seems high), I thought the seller’s $935 asking price (with free shipping) was reasonable for this one. I didn’t even try to haggle.
