I sure wish you could report these things to eBay and they take it seriously for once. These people really are a detriment to the hobby! https://www.ebay.com/itm/356131393209
He's asking a lot of money for a little die chip. I looked at the PCGS verification site picture. Is that a little doubling on the IN GOD WE TRUST? Or is that just reflection? I can't tell.
Wow, amazed that RARE MINT ERROR got by PCGS. If only they'd realized that was a, um, whatever it is, instead of a "distracting mark", I'm sure this would've gotten at least MS72.
What the seller is doing is truly shameful. That is maybe a $30 coin, as it is graded MS67, but the "error" is maybe nothing more than a die chip, if that.
Unfortunately, you can't really get good deals on eBay anymore. At least not where errors are concerned. They're few and far between. I hardly ever buy any from there anymore. But I did get this this other day for $22. I was the only bidder. I guess I did ok. If someone were to have outbid me I would have let it go. I didn't want it that bad, but nobody did.
I would have offered for less. That's just me though. Somehow, I keep getting these types of errors for Free. However, if you like it then it's what you think it's worth.
Yeah I guess $22 isn't really anything in the grand scheme of things. Something I've always wondered about, though. I don't know what the cost is to get an error slabbed but I've got a bunch where I've paid a lot less than $22. And I would imagine the fees are way higher than that. So, that said, is somebody somewhere down the line losing money when they sell a slabbed error cheap?
I think a well knowledgeable collector can find some bargains, but those that just think or hope they found a great deal will complain forever and yet it is not ebay's fault and they do offer liberal return processes. People just want valuable objects for very cheap prices Oh, by the way , does anybody have a 4WD Jeep delivered in top running condition for $500?
You don't have to be a smart alec about it. I'm not talking about someone making a decent profit. That's what eBay is about. I'm referring to people who want, for example, $300 for a $20 coin. Stuff like that.
What I have learned with eBay, being honest and upfront, increases sales. Sure people may ask a tad high, but yes many are outrageous and falsifying information. I do not grade a coin… I post as many photos to the limit, describe as beautiful or great etc. People that do not take their time or they modify a photo to death, people have to really go with their gut that choose to purchase. Greed catches up!
