Just got this 1923D in yesterday, bought it off eBay. It came in a PCI (?) Slab with grade. I just love playing the "Guess the Grade" game. Let see if it was over or under graded. I'll post the full slab pics some time this evening. OH! Thanks for playing! Note: It's got some really cool die file lines on both the OBV and RV along with several die gouges as well.....Enjoy! Your Pal, JR
I'm thinking the general consensus is 63.....I'm going to give it another hour and then post the full slab pics. Oh, thanks to all of you for your input....I got a gut feel it's about a 62 or 63....wishing it was a 64. I think you'll be stunned (maybe not) on the PCI grade.
Pretty crazy huh...you'll all be glad to know that this pretty lady has been freed from her low class dwelling. She'll now be treated with the respect she deserves...hee hee hee Thanks everyone and rest easy that another gem has found a good home.
Unlike Morgans, the reverse of a Peace Dollar, carries alot of weight when factoring a grade. (For me anyway) I feel they got it right, due to the amount of chatter and rub on the reverse. The coin also appears to be lack luster, but could just be the photo
Heavy, I agree from the pics it appears there is a lot of chatter on the RV, some of that is the slab. I removed it last night and it doesn't have any rub and only a few bag marks. It has plenty of luster for MS. It has several die gouges on the OBV and there are heavy die file lines on both the OBV and RV. Once I identify the VAM, which is proving difficult....(hoping it's a new listing), I plan to post pics on VAMworld for help. I intend to fire it off to ANACS and let everyone know what it grades.
I agree with the AU grade. That's an early PCI slab with the 10 digit serial number. They were doing a good job of grading in those days. I think the coin was worth more in that slab than it is now.
