Possible Struck Through

    I would guess it's just lived a very hard life after 35 years in circulation.

    Edit: however it could be a through grease. The coin and lighting make it really hard to tell.

    I think that there are natural and artificial wear at the same time, but both are after the mintage.

    Still a novice when it comes to errors, I'll read up more on struck through errors. Thought it was strange that the date is barely legible but the MM looks untouched

    You are right, the MM looks untouched and there is a unusual peripheral wear except the letter D below the date, it is interesting but the coin is damaged as a whole and maybe it is not very attractive. Good luck!
