Hi all, I know not one thing about ancient coins. I have a few in flips but there are details on the flips. Should I remove them out to see them better or take a photo of. With the “stapled” flips which I do not care for, the glare is hard to get a good pic. Thanks, Pam
Thank you. And I am NOT familiar with names except of what is on the flip. lol. But the person that collected, he was pretty knowledgeable. Thanks again! Pam
I would put this info-- Maximinus II A.D. 308- 309 Ӕ follis GAL VAL MAXIMINVS NOB CAES; laureate head right. GENIO CAESARIS; Genius standing left, modius on head, naked except for chlamys over left shoulder, holding patera from which liquid flows & cornucopiae in left. In ex. •HTΔ• RIC VI Heraclea 36 and include weight and diameter
@PamR great coins!! I’d love any of those in my collection… one secret that hasn’t been mentioned so far…. Unlike modern coins it’s ok to gently handle ancients a little bit. Have to be gentle though, sometimes they are fragile under the surface and can crack or break. But it is ok to hold the coins carefully and ponder what they have seen…
a cautionary note-- whoever "cleaned" these coins actually stripped them; which should always be avoided.
They were in flips… in a vault so I’m not sure. Maybe the owner at the time or who he bought from. Have about 16 or so but not all in this category . I know nothing lol! All Different ones. Thanks again!
