I wanted to post this, I picked it up today at antique shop along with what turned out to be some fake Chinese coins but this at least is the real deal. Picked it up at melt value so im quite happy with it. What do you all think grade is im trying to learn so i'll post what I think and you all correct me if im wrong...I think very fine close to EX F?
I don't know but.. Something about that Quarter looks odd. Seems off a bit. Not even totally round. Looks oval. Kind of warped also.
I'm glad Mark saw what he did. I also see something is off with the surfaces of this coin. Almost looks sand blasted.
Sand cast first , then micro sand blasted to smooth out the cast surfaces - which they did NOT do a good job of!
Yeah - that just don't look right - as worn as the eagles wing is the rest of the coins surface should be worn smooth - not granulated. AND a worn face but yet great readable date?
Casting bubbles at United & America? Hmmm. And a more common date also, certainly not a rarity. What a waste of time.
OK - We don't offer advice to change your mind of what you have - you asked a question then read what people respond to you and make up your own decision!!
I know Tommy - but too many times here on CT people ask for info then when they get it they won't except it and revert back to their own original observations! Now all I say is take it to your local coin shop and have a "so called" expert look at it!!
well if it is a cast then they certainly wasted their time to do it on a silver planchet because it certainly is silver.
Markus loose the attitude bro, im not saying it isnt fake but its just funny that someone wasted time to fake a 30 s and to beat it all do it on silver.....
