Is this a mint error or post mint damage?

My friend found this quarter in change, and it has a different looking rim. The copper area of the coin seems to be indented into the rim. Does anyone know if this is a mint error, or just damage. Image1478648391.671061.jpg Image1478648403.864754.jpg Image1478648411.721807.jpg Image1478648420.415107.jpg Image1478648428.904569.jpg

I can't say how or why it happened. Maybe some type of acid/chemical damage to the copper clad. It's PMD though.

Thanks for the responses guys. I kind of expected it to be PMD since it wasn't like any mint error I have seen before, but of course I just wanted to double check with some more experienced collectors.
