Run 1 or run 2? It appears that run 1 is a run of LEPE replacement sheets, which means these notes are going to be pretty tough to find--they won't come out in full star straps, and they also won't appear as "rollover" replacements where the xxxx9999 and xxxx0000 notes should be. Finding them will take some luck. Run 2 ought to exist as full straps of stars, so those notes will presumably be relatively easier to obtain (as $2 star notes go), once more of them have a chance to make their way out of the Federal Reserve vaults.
Stars are always nice circulation finds but value is based on rarity have many 1957 $1 Silver certificate * all CU but its such a common year that there isnt that much of a premium like you would think.
Run #2 Edited to add; I haven't seen, let alone been able to buy, ANY $2 San Francisco Star Note since series 2003. Two dollar San Francisco Star notes have been reported to been printed for series 2003A, 2009, and now series 2013. Does anyone out there have a $2 L* for any 2003A, 2009, or 2013 ?
Question, if you look a star note up on the site, and it's in the white, as far as meaning not rare, would you still keep it?! I mean I find so many I don't know how to determine the keepers!
Some collectors keep all the $1 star notes....no big deal, it's only a buck. The darker the color, the better possibility of the note having future value. Condition also factors in to the equation.
Is there a database to search rarity of $1 silver certificates? I picked up 3 '57 SC star notes today.
