Cents require too much patience for me. When I did them I would have my Red Book out and look for every error and variation. Would take me 4 hours to go through one. I just stick to halves and rim search now.

I check every coin. You never know when you're going to stumble upon an upgrade.

 

I have thought about collecting all Kennedy Halves and making a full set. I bought the 2000-2006 90% silver proofs thinking that would start my collection. I was going to buy all the proofs and get the rest through CRH. Seems like too much of a chore to try and get a nice 1983 copper clad and so on and so forth.

 

You should give it a shot. You can get a nice folder for 3 or 4 bucks. Im putting together cent, nickel, and dime folders through circ and CRH. I'm pretty sure I'll never complete any unless I open up the wallet, but finding a coin you don't have and filling a hole can be quite the rush. Even a half-3/4 of the way full folder is very impressive.

 

I bought a 64 Kennedy Proof too. I'm only paying 9-12 bucks for these so it's not costing a lot. Lon Chaney is collecting the set too. I do want the 2014 Gold though.

 

I have found nice copper clads for halves. I have so many I don't know what to do with them. One day I will post a picture. I have BU 1983 and 1982 halves.

First roll of nickels today... and my 10th pre-40 mintmarked Jefferson showed up!

 

Today must be my lucky day... went back in, got 30 more rolls at two different banks..... and this turned up! 2nd time ever I've found two pre-40 S Jeffersons in one day...

 

Oh my goodness John! Sooo lucky!!!

I haven't found either of those yet. The early D and S coins are uber rare here.

Box 4: 65x40% and 25x90% (6 Enders and 1 double ender). Pulled 7xwalkers, 5xbens, and 13x'64's out of box 4.

11/08: 3 boxes of halves
Box 1: 16x40% and 4x90% (2 Enders). Pulled 2xbens, 1x'64's and 1x1950-S Booker T. Washington commem
Box 2: 12x40% and 1x90%

Since the banks are closed tomorrow, I went overboard today... I bought a total of 2 boxes worth of nickels from 3 banks... they produced 28 pre-60s including 1920 (date didn't scan well) and 1927 Buffalos, and a 1945-S War Nickel, along with a single 2009-P...


I also bought a box of dimes, a box of cents, and $5 each of cents from two different banks... so 4,000 coins down, 6,000 to go!

 

I went over board too. A box of dimes, nickels and 5 boxes of nickels plus ten seperate dollars in cents. 6,000 coins down and 12,000 for me to go! I added two wheats to my collection in ten dollars of cents today. Hopefully the other ten thousand cents yield alot more wheats!
