A good portrait of Caracalla on an Alexandria bronze.

 

My favorite portrait of Caracalla is on a bronze from Alexandria, but I am not sure how to post it.

 

Ooooh, an Alexandrian Caracalla?! I want to see, even though I will be very envious if it is an Alexandria Egypt issue rather than an Alexandria Troas issue.

Here are some basic instructions for posting images. I'm on a Mac so some of the instructions may vary slightly if you're on a PC. I may be wrong about this part, but I think if you're not a CoinTalk supporter you'll have to have your pictures posted elsewhere online, then you link to that location. Here are the instructions:


1. Go to the picture you want to post (from its location online, not in your computer's hard drive)
2. Right-click on the picture and select "copy image URL" (or copy picture address, or some such wording)
3. On CoinTalk, in the box where you want to type your reply and post the picture, put your cursor where you want to paste the picture; click there to make the cursor blink at that location.
4. Click the picture icon across the top of the message composition box. It's the first icon to the right of the smiley face.
5. In the provided space, right-click and "paste" the URL you previously copied.
6. Click Insert.

When you've finished composing the entire message, click "Post Reply".

If your coin's pictures are not already posted (or stored) somewhere online, let me know and I'll help you set up a place to host pictures so that you can easily access them to post here and wherever else you may want to show them off.

 

100 Caracalla Coins and not a single Sestertius? You must be kidding...

I have shown my sestertii of Caracalla too many times here but we keep adding members so these may be new to some. Severan bronzes get less common after the first year of Septimius and don't really pick up as common again until the time of Severus Alexander. This same period seems to be weak in Alexandrian coins. I am also very interested in seeing any Alexandria Caracalla (any metal). I have none.

Obv: Caracalla bust r.
Rev: GYThEA [TW]N. Hermes standing left, chlamys over l. shoulder, holding purse in his right hand and kerykeion in his left.


Achaea. Messinia, Pylos. Caracalla AE22. Terminal figure.
Peloponnesus. Pylos, Messenia. Caracalla. AD 198-217. Æ Assarion 22mm.
Obv: Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right.
Rev: PYL[IWN] Terminal figure veiled and closely draped, holds in r. end of garment.

 

Well, are you able to pist a pic? We are on the edge, I'd like to see it as well.

 

How on earth can one post a picture in this CoinTalk program ???

Click 'upload a file' under the text box, then select the file of the picture you want to upload. Click 'full image' below the text box of the picture you uploaded. Write your message, and "Post Reply"

 

Fitz-- I think the "Upload A File" button is only an option for CoinTalk Supporters. Since I am one, I can't see what the reply controls look like for non-supporters but if I recall, the Upload a File button is a paid feature. If that is the case, pictures have to be posted with a link, so the image has to be hosted elsewhere.

Maybe a non-supporter can confirm or refute this?

 

I shouldn't think so, as I was using that method before I became a supporter. Unless things changed recently... or the fact I do this on an iPad and rarely on a computer

 

I am not a 'supporter' but I can click 'upload a file' and it then allows access to my photo library for posting
