Can not take and hold ground, but I was always glad to see the A10s in support.

The wart hog bad ass plane. When them guns go off you know theyre close.
My wifes father was an ingineer on the ground when they were still in the design stage.
Had I known when I was a little younger that I would be putting planes together today I think I'd still be building military jets.

I'm still undecided whether I want to be included since I'm sure there are so many newer members that should be considered over me.

LOVE all you VETS!! Air Force, 1970-1974, SP K-9 ( TAC bases--Spectre Gunships and F-4's).

When I left the Navy in 92 we were still using a few F4's on a limited basis. Amazing they still flew! I was in an EA6B squadron, those are now gone too, I think (as well as my carrier!).

Giving my age away, I was a passenger on more times than I can count on a C-7A Caribou while I was in Vietnam. What an amazing aircraft. It could take off and land on a dime. I don't recall if they were operated by which service. We got in and out of some very tight spaces.

OK. I've been hammered with requests on just what this coin might be. I guess its stumped most (one has got it right so far). While humble it is very rare. I have only seen one example in the sales record (not that there might be many more). I will say this: one needs not a reference collection to find it. There is one example (the only one) online. After I give it away and nobody finds the attribution, I will let on. BTW, if you know now, you can say so, or suggest what it is. That will help to encourage others in their searches.

Oh. One more thing. The orientation of the reverse is up to interpretation. If one points the trident to the RIGHT, the lettering becomes more obvious, though some orient it to the top or bottom.

I am having a tough time holding myself back, I am having fun with this (cant wait til Friday so I can give another coin away). So, since the photo is not the best, I will give up the lettering. BAS PTO. That should point to the right direction.

Well I'll be darned. I didn't see that coming! I was digging through the usual Poseidon/trident cities without any luck.

I don't recall seeing this type before and I have the relevant SNG Cop volume. Maybe it's not in there though, and I can't find the book right now. How can I misplace such a giant volume?

Very cool! I want one-- it's in my collecting range :D

Don't enter me in the giveaway though-- it should go to a newbie (or newer-bie) :)

Are you sure? Its rare enough that likely only a specialist would truly appreciate it (well, no, that sounds elitist. I am sure anyone would like it). But, as rare as it is, you may never see another again in your lifetime! If you want one now, this is likely the only chance one will get.
